Uranus Trine Pluto: The Inner Technology Revolution?
During 2026 to 2028 we’ll experience a series of trines between Uranus and Pluto which is a part of a long time planetary cycle that started in the mid 60’s when these two outer planets were conjunct. I’m so excited for this. Trines are typically where there’s generally an easeful flow between the two planetary archetypes. Plus the electric energy of the 60’s brought around such powerful revolutionary change from human rights, women’s rights to the psychedelic and sexual revolution. So let’s do a deep dive into dates, the energies of Pluto and Uranus, the zodiac signs they’re in now, and the backdrop of the other current astrology.

*Academic astrologers like Richard Tarnas, who research these outer planet cycles against the big turning points of history, allow a much wider orb than the exact conjunctions, so the energy of this transit has already been building for years.
Uranus Pluto Cycle
Outer planet cycles are a BIG deal. We’re talking cycles that span over a hundred of years. A full Uranus Pluto cycle takes somewhere between about 113 and 141 years (Pluto's orbit is eccentric, so it varies). The last time these two came together was the conjunction of 1965–66 (the psychedelic sixties!) and then they’ll meet in conjunction again in 2104. So this the kind of astrology that takes generations to play out, and right now we're arriving at one of its gentler, more supportive phases.
In 2026 - 2028 (and really years either side) we have the meeting of Uranus (in Gemini) TRINE to Pluto (in Aquarius). A trine is a harmonious flow of energy and this is an exciting backdrop for us to be in post all the astrology of 2020.
Richard Tarnas is an incredible academic astrologer that definitely got me interested in this huge planetary cycles. He’s spent years tracing the Uranus Pluto cycle in his book Cosmos and Psyche, mapping how they cycles of the outer planets often aligns with huge social change.
In the 20th century we actually had the meeting of Uranus and Pluto in the 60’s and the Neptune and Uranus in the early 90’s, and that’s why the later half of the 20th century had so much revolution and change in a relatively short space of time compared to other centuries!!
The Uranus Pluto conjunction of the 1960s
The Uranus and Pluto conjunction (in the sign of Virgo) was when we had psychedelic and sexual revolution, protests against war, women’s rights, the music was psychedelic rock and everyone was talking about peace and love and the flower child revolution.
Uranus and Pluto meeting in Virgo, exact three times across 1965 and 1966. We saw themes of:
Psychedelic revolution. Understanding consciousness and healing before they were banned.
The anti-war protests
Women’s Rights
Rebellions against the status quo
As mentioned earlier the themes of outer planet meetings last WAY longer than just the exact moments the planets are conjunct.
The Uranus Pluto Trine, 2026–2028
In 2026 Uranus (in Gemini) and Pluto (in Aquarius) come into a trine (aka the most harmonious, flowing aspect in astrology).
So this feels like some MUCH NEEDED support (hopefully) in what is a quite a choatic period where systems are no longer working and crumbling but nothing new is in place yet. Great change often does happen over vast amounts of time (not just 1-2 years), but it does feel like the energy of Uranus and Pluto in Trine is supportive in some way shape or form.
The last time Pluto was in Aquarius there was revolution, the last time Uranus as in Gemini there was a civil war. History doesn’t repeat, but it does rhyme.
So even this trine and the energy of these two planets is not about repeating the sixties. But I definitely see themes already. There’s been a huge resurgance in psychedelics which are now legal in some places. We are seeing people take to the streets now more than ever to protest about various human rights issues and wars. We’re more ‘trauma-informed’ than ever before and wanting to ‘break cycles’ of generational trauma and look at new styles of parenting too.
But one area I really see BOOMING during this time is our INNER TECHNOLOGY.
The psychedelic medicine resurgence is well underway, we’re all familiar with trauma-informed therapy. Coupled with the influence of Neptune and Saturn in Aries we’re also learning how to be more independent in other forms of communication. People have never been more interested in the neuroscience of channeling, mediumship, meditation, intuition and using divination practices like astrology and tarot.

Uranus in Gemini
Gemini is about communication, languages, speaking and sharing ideas. Uranus is about innovation, where we shake things up, disrupt the status quo of thought, and allow new radical ways of doing things enter. It’s been in Taurus for 7 years so we’ve seen themes around our money, food, and earth based topics being revolutionised. Now with Uranus in Gemini themes around communication and learning are likely to be upgraded and changed. AI automatically comes to mind but I love that this can VERY much be about our innate abilities and INNER TECHNOLOGY which brings me to Pluto in Aquarius.
