Chiron Shifting From Aries to Taurus (including key dates)
Chiron, the “dwarf planet/asteroid” (people can’t agree!) that sits between Saturn and Uranus has been in Aries since 2018.
On the 19th of June 2026 it will take its first ‘dip’ into Taurus. Chiron takes around 50 years to complete an orbit, but it’s an orbit that is not equal. Interestingly one of the longest stays in a sign is in Aries which is around 8/9 years. Chiron is then only 1.5/2 years in Libra due to its eccentric orbit (see all the dates listed below).
What’s fascinating this time is that it’s been in Aries around the same time that Uranus was in Taurus (from 2018 to 26 April 2026).
So when we review what was Chiron in Aries was like it’s alway so important to do that through the lens of the archetypes and what this looked like personally in your chart. First let’s take a look at Chiron as an archetype, and some musings about what it means through different signs, and then we can get to looking at it personally.
Chiron in Aries Collectively
Aries phrase is I AM. Wounding here can be around everything from fundamental ‘what have I done to deserve to exist’ to how independent and pioneering we are as well as how we assert ourselves and come into leadership. In a time where we’ve all been very conditioned through school and society to live a certain way, I feel this transit has been huge for how we stand up for ourselves. The pandemic was HUGE for this - did we blindly trust the leadership, did we feel we could make decisions for ourselves, did we assert our thoughts and feelings. That’s just one example, but it’s one that impacted so many of us and caused a lot of people to either be in a situation of trusting others over themselves, and perhaps that even creating a wound, then many learning from this situation that trusting ourselves and acting from that place is perhaps the lesson.
Chiron in Taurus Is the First Collective Chiron Return
Chiron moving into Taurus is very interesting indeed, because it’s the sign that Chiron was in when it was ‘discovered’ in 1977. So soon Chiron will be having its own ‘Chiron Return’!
A Chiron Return is when Chiron reaches the place in the birth chart - it takes 50/51 years to get to that place. By the time Chiron comes back around, we’ve had a lot of life experience to see our wounding in different areas of our life that keeps coming through.
The return is the moment that we see so much in real clarity - either the resurfacing of old pain, or having a profound spiritual opening that helps us to understand why life has unfolded the way it has.
This will differ for everyone, it may be a healing time and seeing the Chiron journey OR it can be a time where the healing that needs to be done can be very loud. But ultimately the point is to not ‘stay in the wounding’ but to be aware of it and grow from it.
Let’s see how we experience our first collective Chiron Return as a society.
Chiron in Taurus Themes
Taurus is I HAVE, and rules the body. Body Image and money and wealth are huge things in our society.
Sadly, I currently see us heading further into a huge cost of living crisis - how can we move through this as a collective? What’s the upside here? We’re paying the highest taxes and highest cost of living ever - how far can this go? How will people be able to afford buying homes? What will happen with the wealth divide and distribution of wealth?
Body image is another Taurus theme we can explore. Currently we are seeing a huge rise in the use of the GLP1 medications such as Ozempic and Mounjaro. These medicines are expensive also - not available to everyone. But we’re seeing overly thin celebrities and things such as “ozempic face” or “ozempic arms” where there’s been rapid weight loss and how that can create a sagging effect. What will be our experience during the collective Chiron Return - will we be approaching body image differently as a collective? Will we be able to accept the impacts of healthy aging on the body? Or still be under a spell of eternal skinniness at any cost to individual’s health?
Chiron, Your Personal Chart and Post Traumatic Growth
Just to expand slightly on Chiron in our personal chart and through the lens of personal development I wanted to add a very popular blog post I wrote on Chiron including discussing Post Traumatic Growth. I know people can heal “wounded” and freak out and think this is all just about suffering, so I really want to drive home that this is NOT the purpose of Chiron.
Like all planets/asteroids we have a natal placement that gives us a lot of information about the archetype for us, and then we’ll also track its transits and how that relates back to our natal expression.
Ideally for this transit, see where you had planets in Aries or the cardinal signs and when those transits happened since 2018. If you would love support with this, this is the type of thing I offer in my Astrology Readings that have a focus on personal development and also in a group support within my Spiritual Nutrition Astrology Immersion.
